Historic Moment: Warga penyintas kebakaran Pulogadung terima bantuan
Relief Efforts Continue for Pulogadung Fire Survivors
Historic Moment – The community in the Pulogadung area is experiencing a period of recovery following a devastating fire that struck early Sunday morning. Residents who lost their homes and belongings have begun receiving assistance from multiple organizations working together to support those affected. The Suku Dinas Sosial (Sudinsos) alongside the Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) branch of East Jakarta have coordinated their efforts to provide essential supplies to the displaced families.
Timeline of the Fire Incident
The emergency began at approximately 03:00 WIB when flames broke out in a densely populated residential area. According to the Suku Dinas Penanggulangan Kebakaran dan Penyelamatan (Sudin Gulkarmat) of East Jakarta Administrative City, the blaze quickly consumed one residential unit, a grocery store, and a rice stall. The rapid spread of fire was attributed to what appears to be an electrical short circuit in one of the household outlets.
Emergency response teams arrived promptly at the scene. The first firefighting unit reached the location by 03:04 WIB, and within a short period, a total of fourteen fire trucks with sixty personnel were deployed to contain the situation. Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the flames while simultaneously preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring homes. After nearly two hours of intensive efforts, the fire was completely brought under control around 05:00 WIB.
Aid Distribution to Survivors
The relief efforts have been comprehensive, with multiple organizations contributing various types of assistance. Agata Bayu Putra, the Head of Social Services for East Jakarta, explained the scope of their contribution during a press briefing on Sunday.
“Kita harapkan bantuan ini dapat meringankan beban penyintas kebakaran di Pulogadung,” kata Agata Bayu Putra di Jakarta, Minggu.
The Sudinsos team distributed seven categories of essential items to the affected residents. These included eleven bags of five-kilogram packaged rice, eleven boxes of instant noodles, eleven bags of two-liter cooking oil, eleven bottles of sweet soy sauce, twenty-two packs of biscuits, twenty-two cans of sardines, and eleven goodie bags for the families.
Meanwhile, the PMI Jakarta Timur chapter also played a significant role in the relief operations. Bambang Pangestu Aldriyan, the Chairman of PMI East Jakarta, detailed their contributions to the affected community.
‘Kehadiran kami merupakan bagian dari komitmen organisasi untuk memberikan pelayanan kemanusiaan kepada warga yang sedang menghadapi situasi darurat,’ kata Bambang.
The PMI team provided eleven food package sets, eleven hygiene kits, eleven family kits, eleven sleeping mats, four school kits, fifty ready-to-eat meal boxes, and five cases of 1.5-liter mineral water bottles.
Community Impact and Current Situation
The fire has left a significant mark on the local community. Ariyanto, the Head of Pulogadung Village, confirmed that all distributed aid has been handed over to the fire survivors. The displaced residents are currently being accommodated at the RW 03 secretariat office, which is located in close proximity to the fire site.
Official records indicate that eleven families comprising twenty-eight individuals have been directly affected by the incident. Among those displaced are four school-age children whose education may face temporary disruption. The tragedy has also claimed three lives, with one additional person sustaining injuries during the evacuation and firefighting efforts.
While authorities have not yet determined the definitive cause of the fire, preliminary investigations point toward an electrical malfunction as the likely trigger. The rapid escalation of flames was facilitated by the dense arrangement of buildings in the neighborhood, which allowed the fire to quickly reach adjacent structures.
Local officials continue to conduct thorough assessments to document property losses and verify the identities of all victims. The community remains in a state of transition as families work to rebuild their lives with the support of government agencies and humanitarian organizations. The coordinated response demonstrates the collective commitment to ensuring that no resident faces this crisis alone.
